The Pärnu Ice Festival

The Pärnu Ice Festival takes place 17-26.02.2012 at Pärnu. In February, when the sea and the river are covered with ice and skates and skis invite you to enjoy yourself, Pärnu attracts families from all across the world. The Pärnu Ice Festival brings summery crowds back to the wintry resort and covers the 10 days with a vibrant patchwork of events. The festival has ice and snow, hikes and sporting events, music and dance, theatre and arts and crafts, snow picnics and sleigh rides – and to top it all off, the birthday of Estonia. During the festival, all family members of any age can find something to do and enjoy.

Kaziukas Fair 2012

Each year on the first days of March, Vilnius Old Town streets are flooded with the uproar of weekend of "Kaziukas". It is abound with the attendance of folk artisans and craftsmen. The "Kaziukas Fair" attracts artists not only from the most remote Lithuanian places but also from neighbouring countries. In addition to the traditional accents of the fair, the "Kaziukas Fair" offers the works of socially vulnerable persons, foster home beneficiaries. The fair not only boasts with items for sale, but also with events.

Kontinental Ice Hockey League’s All-Star Game in Riga

It is likely that the most important event of the Latvian sports calendar in 2012 will take place on January 21, when Riga will host the annual Kontinental Ice Hockey League (KHL) All-Star Game. Riga was chosen to host the game by the KHL mostly due to its fantastic fans, as well as to put on a show not only for Latvian, Russian and other regional hockey fans, but hockey lovers from Western Europe as well.

Shrovetide in Lithuania

Shrovetide – is a carnival, which escorts winter. From early morning people in costumes begin roaming – devils, witches, reapers, goats, Gypsies, beggars and others. They usually visit homes, sometimes businesses as well, play pranks, act, sing, try to snatch something and then demand payment, throw water or if they catch someone, they bathe them in snow. After the pranks, the ones in costume ask for pancakes or money. It is believed that on this day you have to eat a lot (not less than 12 times), because it is the last day before the fast of Lent.

41st Tartu Marathon

41st Tartu Marathon takes place 19.02.2012 starting from 09:00 at Otepää, Tehvandi Sport centre. The Tartu Marathon is the best known and most popular skiing event of its kind in Estonia. It is held every year on the third Sunday in February and forms part of the international Worldloppet and Estonian Estoloppet cross-country series. The full marathon course through Tartu and Valga counties covers a distance of 63 km, with the shorter route covering 31 km. The marathon is traditionally contested in classic style. Its rules comply with the competition regulations of both the FIS (International Ski Federation) and the ESL (Estonian Ski Association).

Brown Bear watching and tracking

During this tour participants spend a night in brown bear hide and from there it is very good possibility to see the bears. Participants drive 1,5 hours from Tallinn to Alutaguse North of Estonia it is the core area of Estonian 800 Brown Bears. Before going to the hide, people look for brown bear claw marks, slots and droppings, tracks and marks as participants drive and walk. Guide gives great view about brown bear biology.
