Project “Christmas in Vilnius” has become a tradition - each year promoting to believe Christmas miracle with joy and give joy to others. This is the time when all the public events in the city are combined in one big festival.

Project's goal is to spread the Christmas spirit and add as much festive whirl to Vilnius residents and guests, as possible. This year, the attraction point is the Christmas market, located next to Cathedral Square. The visitors of Christmas market will have a unique opportunity to see Santa Claus helpers – deers, swing carousel, greet loved ones in original way, find special Christmas gifts and warm up with a glass of hot wine.

Christmas Tree Lighting Event
December 11th, 7 pm, Cathedral Square

Christmas tree in Vilnius Cathedral Square is considered to be the National Christmas Tree of Lithuania, and the lightening of it is traditionally organized as a spectacular show, announcing the start of festivities in Vilnius and the whole Lithuania. The annual show attracts thousands of spectators from both Vilnius and other parts of the country and abroad. The time before the main festivals of the year must be full of dreams, because all dreams and wishes come true on Christmas night! We will begin to dream and believe more on 12th of December when the National Christmas tree will be lightened with the spectacular show.

Christmas Market 
December 11th - January 6th, Cathedral Square

The beautiful tradition continues with even more energy and inspiration. The visitors of Christmas village will have a unique opportunity to see Santa Claus helper – deer, to swing on a carousel, to greet loved ones in original way, to find a gift, to warm up with a glass of hot wine.

Christmas Music in Churches
December 18th – January 6th, Churches of Vilnius

It has become a beautiful tradition, to organize a set of advent concerts, which take place in different beautiful churches, and which move the audience of different age, social groups and interests, bringing the perfect chance to enjoy the spiritual sound of Christmas’ period. The main idea behind these concerts is to bring the professional renowned musicians and the wide audience together. 

Crib and the Consecration Ceremony 
December 24th, 10 pm, Cathedral Square

The crib regards as the symbol of Christmas. It reminds us the values, celebrated by this holiday – the family, the love to your neighbour, compassion, unity, hope, and the gift of the new beginning. We invite you to celebrate these values together, attending the ceremony of consecration of the Crib at the Vilnius’ Cathedral Square. 

Three Kings Procession
January 6th, 4.30 pm, Vilnius old town

Festive Christmas’ events in Vilnius traditionally are finished with the traditional parade from The Gates of Dawn through Vilnius old town. The figures of the Three Kings, following the Star, become the centre of the parade, which culminates at the Cathedral Square with the traditional performance, depicting the visit the Three Kings paid to the Jesus Child. The parade and performance are especially loved by the youngest citizens of Vilnius.
