XX Riga International Film Forum "Arsenals"

This year’s Riga International Film Forum "Arsenals" will be held from 17th to 26th of September 2010.  The festival’s special program will put emphasis on films from the Far East and Japan.  Starting from this year’s edition of the film forum, "Arsenals", which was previously a biennial event, will be held every year.

About “Arsenals”

“Arsenals” is an event that takes over Riga every second autumn since 1986. “Arsenals” is organized by the International Centre of Cinema in collaboration with Riga City Council and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.

This year again on the big screens of “Arsenals” will be shown the most vivid international cinema events and the latest and most interesting Baltic films. Several cinema-related events and works of art are going to come out to the streets and screenings of classical silent films are going to take place, following the tradition, accompanied by live music performed by professional musicians especially for „Arsenals”.

Every time the selection of “Arsenals” films highlights some important period in the history of cinematography, and offering audience an opportunity to get to know a particular world region and its culture. In previous years, “Arsenals” has prepared special programmes dedicated to Georgia and Middle East, as well as commemoration programmes of Georges Méliès and other significant film directors.
